AVR, a specialist in machines for potato cultivation, introduces a new addition to its range of all-in-one solutions for the Ceres 440. Alongside the existing MultiForce and Compact combinations, a third option is now available: a power harrow combination, developed in close collaboration with the Belgian manufacturer LSM.
With this expansion, growers gain even more flexibility to configure their ideal combination for soil preparation and planting, perfectly tailored to various conditions—particularly in stony fields.
New power harrow on the Ceres 440: compact, smart and powerful
The new combination consists of:
- LSM hydraulic subsoilers
- Maschio DM3000 power harrow
- Ceres 440 planter
A key advantage is that the power harrow frame enables a fully independent, hydraulic depth adjustment of the soil cultivation relative to the planter. Operators can easily adjust this via the AVR joystick or the display, where the working depth is accurately shown thanks to an angle sensor.
Strenghts:
- Highly suitable for stony conditions
- More compact than a hook tine cultivator (–120 mm)
- Independent hydraulic depth adjustment of soil cultivation from the tractor relative to the planter
- Also suitable for tractors with wide tires
- Soil preparation, planting, and ridge forming closely integrated: ensures perfect positioning of the seed potatoes in the center of the ridge, even on sloping terrain
Existing all-in-one solutions remain available
The new power harrow combination further strengthens the current range:
MultiForce – Ceres 440
The well-known front–rear combination with the MultiForce tine cultivator at the front and the Ceres 440 at the rear.
Strenghts:
- Highly efficient soil cultivation across the full working width
- Choice of 4 or 6 tines per segment
- Excellent soil crumbling
- Balanced weight distribution (cultivator at the front – planter at the rear)
- Optimal planting quality (depth, spacing and ridge formation)
Compact – Ceres 440
A fully rear-mounted all-in-one combination (cultivator and planter), designed for tractors with sufficient lifting capacity and horsepower.
Strenghts:
- Highly efficient soil cultivation across the full working width
- Also suitable for tractors with wide tires
- Soil preparation, planting, and ridge formation closely integrated: ensures perfect positioning of the seed potatoes in the center of the ridge, even on sloping terrain
Conclusion
In short, with the addition of the power harrow combination to the all-in-one solutions for the Ceres 440, AVR offers growers even more flexibility and choice. This allows each grower to select the combination that best suits their soil and field conditions.
In practice
In 2025, the prototype was extensively tested with very positive feedback; in 2026, a limited pre-series (0-series) was launched. The Ceres 440 with power harrow will be showcased at the AVR stand at Potato Europe (9–10 September, Germany) and Interpom (29 November – 1 December, Belgium).
